General

FAB25 Czechia is the 21st annual FABx event – the flagship global gathering for the Fab Lab and maker community – hosted for the first time in Central Europe. This year’s theme, Bridge the Gap, will guide 8 exciting days of activities, bringing together 1,100 participants in the heart of Europe to explore digital fabrication, innovation, and collaboration. The event features inspiring keynotes, engaging talks, hands-on and theoretical workshops, networking opportunities, cultural experiences, and major highlights like the Fab Conference, Fab Festival, Prusa Day, and the Maker Train.

FAB25 takes place from July 4 to 11, 2025, in two locations – Brno and Prague, Czechia. Participants can travel between these cities on a dedicated Maker Train, offering unique networking and program opportunities.

FAB25 is hosted by Make More, Fab Lab Brno, the Fab Foundation and MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms with the support of international and local partners. You can find more information about organizers on this page.

The Maker Train is the most fun and eco-friendly way to travel between Brno and Prague. FAB25 attendees can enjoy special networking and program opportunities during the 2.5-hour journey. Best of all, the ticket for the Maker Train is included in the event ticket price.

FAB25 is expected to welcome:

  • FabLab, makerspace, and open space managers, staff, and members.
  • Researchers in digital fabrication, innovation, and technology.
  • Educators from all levels, particularly those focused on STEM education.
  • Students in technical fields, especially manufacturing.
  • Makers passionate about digital fabrication and crafts.
  • Industry professionals working in digital fabrication.
  • Artists and designers.
  • Entrepreneurs and innovators.
  • Policymakers shaping the future of technology and innovation.

In general, anyone interested in the program is welcome to attend!

If you couldn’t find the answer you’re looking for on this page, don’t worry! Feel free to reach out to us directly at info@fab25.cz, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Yes, all venues in Brno and Prague are fully accessible. If you have specific needs, please indicate them during registration or contact us at info@fab25.cz.

While the primary focus of the event is not direct sales, we encourage attendees to engage with exhibitors to learn more about their offerings.

For those traveling between Brno and Prague, there will be a dedicated Maker Train available on the 8th of July. However, for travel on any other dates during the event, participants will be responsible for their own transportation.

Program

The detailed schedule (version 1) is now available here. Minute-by-minute schedule release is planned mid May 2025.

No, the program will be conducted exclusively in English. While there will be no direct translation into other languages, some materials may be available in additional languages for specific needs.

Yes, selected sessions will be live-streamed and recorded. This allows attendees to revisit content after the event or access it if they are unable to attend in person. The platform for accessing these sessions will be announced closer to the event dates.

The schedule offers a blend of structured and independent time. You can expect networking events on most days – please see the schedule for specifics. Furthermore, two evenings will be free for you to explore the surrounding areas at your leisure. Beyond the planned activities, you are, of course, free to leave the event venue at any time and make your own arrangements. The full program details are available here.

Participation

Important Update: The open call season ended as of March 31, 2025!

Yes, you can! Simply make sure to fill out a separate application form for each category you want to participate in. However, it’s important to focus on the quality of your submissions rather than submitting multiple ideas. High-quality contributions will have a greater impact!

In general, most standard materials commonly used in FabLabs will be available. Once your workshop submission is pre-approved, you’ll be able to choose from a provided materials list up to a certain budget limit.

If you need specialized materials not on the list you can definitely bring them yourself.

Important Update: The open call season ended as of March 31, 2025!

You can propose content in the following categories:

  • Workshops (hands-on or theoretical)
  • Research Papers
  • Talks
  • Working Groups
  • Mobile FabLabs
  • Fab Festival

For detailed information about each category, please visit this page.

No, as a rule, we do not provide free tickets, discounts, or cover expenses for accommodation, travel, or other costs. This decision was carefully made by the organizing team based on experiences from previous FABx event editions.

We will process submissions in batches. You will know the status of your proposal no later than the end of April 2025.

No, submissions after the deadline will not be accepted. We encourage you to submit your proposal as early as possible to ensure smooth organization and processing.

No, all submissions must be made through the application form on this website. The only exception is for Research Papers, which should be submitted via the external platform EasyChair.

We try to accommodate special requests, but locations and time slots are allocated based on the program’s overall schedule. If you have specific constraints, please mention them in your application.

If your proposal is not accepted, you’re still more than welcome to attend FAB25 and participate in all activities.

If you want to join FAB25 with your mobile FabLab, you’re more than welcome to! You can either showcase it or use it as a workshop venue.

All mobile FabLabs will be showcased during the Prague part of the program (July 9–11) due to ample space at the venue. Unfortunately, the Brno venues cannot accommodate parking or meet the technical requirements for mobile FabLabs.

When filling out the application form, you can choose from several options:

  • Parking at the Prague venue and transferring to the event launch in Brno with bus/train.
  • Coming straight to Brno and arranging parking independently.
  • Participating only in the Prague program with your mobile FabLab.

We look forward to seeing your mobile FabLab in action! If you’re unsure what to do, contact us via info@fab25.cz.

Kids

FAB25 welcomes families and small visitors. We are preparing activities and facilities so that the whole family can enjoy the event.

There will be the Maker Kindergarten for the youngest, and a summer program – the Maker Camp – for older children.

The Maker Kindergarten is intended for children up to 5 years old, and the Maker Camp for children from 5 to 15 years old. Children accompanied by parents are welcome also to join selected workshops and activities.

Yes, both – the Maker Kindergarten and the Maker Camp require a special ticket. The kids ticket can be bought as an addition with the Standard/CZ + East Europe ticket or can be purchased separately if the legal representative has already purchased his/her ticket.

Most areas of both venues are accessible with strollers. However, for your comfort, we recommend considering a baby carrier or sling.

Yes, changing tables will be available in the Czech venue.

Yes, the venue will include dedicated relaxation areas outside the main event program, where you can rest with your child.

Hands-on STEM workshops, robotics, 3D printing, cultural experiences, and outdoor adventures.

Children are under the constant supervision of professionals, both in the kindergarten/playroom and during the camp program.

Yes, emergency medical assistance is a standard part of our event.

Yes, catering will be provided. Maker Camp participants will have lunch included in the program. For the youngest children in the kindergarten, we’ll provide light refreshments – snacks and drinks to keep them happy and energized. If your child has special dietary needs, please mention it in the registration form or contact us in advance.

We will send detailed instructions via email before the event. In general, we recommend comfortable clothes for creative activities, a raincoat, a reusable water bottle (there will be refill stations throughout the venues), and possibly a favorite toy for younger children.

Currently, capacity is fixed. If there is exceptional interest, we will do our best to find solutions.

Registration is open until the start of the event, but due to limited capacity, we strongly recommend registering as soon as possible.

Outside the venues, you can find playgrounds, and both cities are built to spend free time with kids safely. However, if you want to enjoy any part of the programme, you need to have either kids' tickets or an adult ticket.

If you would like your child to move freely between the general event and the Maker Camp, please make sure to purchase them an Adult ticket and indicate their participation in the Maker Camp during registration. With this ticket, your child will have access to both events. A separate Kids ticket does not grant access to the main program.

For the Maker Kindergarten, it is possible to arrange individual days during registration or on-site. Please note that the ticket price is fixed for the full program, regardless of how many days your child participates. The Maker Camp ticket is for full-time participation for the entire camp duration.
